MAJOR UPDATE: File sizes must be under 300kb, but preferrably under 100kb if at all possible.
The aim of these adverts is to drive sales. We want AS MANY click throughs as possible. So the advert really needs to catch the viewers eye. It'll be promoted and advertised specifically on the BMX Section of Extreme.com, we may also use it for Mpora.com also
See the exact pages it'll be showing on here: http://extreme.com/BMX - look at the page and see what colours will stick out best on the page. I'd personally suggest white backgrounds to the adverts to contrast with the black background of the page, and perhaps red writing??

Other responses to questions received:
How much movement do you want to have in this banners?
I haven't got a specific amount of movement in mind, the important aspect is that it catches the eye and then promotes to buy a BMX or parts from BMX.co.uk
Just changing pictures or would something like a short animation of movement also be interesting for you?
Short Animation would be preferred to just changing pictures as I believe this will catch the attention of the viewer more effectively.
And also do you prefer every banner to be animated, since a lot of head-banners are animated while the ones below are still pictures?
That's entirely up to you as a designer as to what you feel would be the most effective.
