Descripción del libro
A varied group of new plebes, first year students at the Naval Academy, find themselves sent, not to the storied school in Annapolis, Maryland, but instead to an experimental civilian run version, The Chesapeake Naval Academy. They include Anastasiia Lashkova, a young woman from the Russian Federation who seeks the opportunity to be a military pilot, David Lavelle, a French student who seeks a US Navy pilot, the father who abandoned him and his mother when he was born, and a group of others from various strata of the United States, who have been somehow drawn into the allure of the Navy’s university. They intermix with a small group of upper classmen of various years who also find themselves transferred to the experimental school. Once there both groups examine the reasons they came and why they are subjecting themselves to the rigors of the military school. All try to cope with the fact that they must learn in a challenging setting that has none of the charm of the original school on the banks of the Chesapeake Bay. They all find they have answered some inner urging to follow this path in life.

The book involves characters from several backgrounds. It has a mix of main characters probably more slanted toward the females. I have someone else formatting the main book and you would have to confer with her on fonts used. Scenes shift all over the country and in Russia and France. Mostly at the alternate Naval Academy in Chesapeake, Virginia. I'm looking for someone to surprise me with their knowledge of the military academies. FYI It features several characters sharing what inspired their interest. For Anastasiia (The Russian girl) it was seeing the Russian Aerobatic team, The Swifts, at an airshow. Videos of this colorful group of planes (MIG29s) are available on the web. For another it was seeing a Navy destroyer coming out of the Navy yard in San Diego and sailing under the Coronado bridge. Another saw a Navy carriier departing from Norfolk for duty in the middle East. While I have photos of the last two I'd prefer something illustrated. These are all suggested guidelines. In the course of the novel a group visits Area 51's Main Gate in Nevada. Surely everyone knows what Area 51 is. They journey down Nevada Highway 375, known as the Loneliest Highway in America. It's also known as the Extraterrestrial Highway since it goes past Area 51. All of this is also available on the internet. These are all possible suggestions. What do you all think?
Lo que debe evitarse
While the designer can use stock imagery I don't want to be stuck with something because that is all that's available.
