The work is a novel set in 2035. America’s long growing national debt has brought the country to its knees and the federal government (Uncle Sam)*can no longer borrow money or support its past programs. China (the Dragon) holds 25% of the nation’s debt and demands repayment.
In my minds eye, I see a beleaguered looking Uncle Sam with “I.O.U.s” stuffed in his pockets, perhaps holding bills requiring immediate payment facing a roaring Chinese Dragon with its fangs bared. All of this scene is overlying a map of the Western United States with the individual states defined by what appears to be “perforated” lines.
