The cover should be expressive and also have a thumbmail effect in the Amazon shop at a distance - and be recognizable accordingly. It is important that it looks professional and has an eye-catcher effect. Below is a selection of covers that I like and that go in the right direction. It has been shown that stylistic figures are well received by readers. Please pay attention to the given details and the attached pictures.
Stock pictures are allowed, but please refrain from adding a large stock picture to the cover and selling it to me as an "own creation". ;)
The genre is fantasy and should remind you of it. Please take a look at the Top100 Amazon Charts to see how successful fantasy covers are built there.
The title is "Das Lied der Toten". The book deals with the topic of necromancy, but not as you are used to it. "Objects", "torn garments", "wax figure" etc. are interwoven with souls to protect themselves. You can show all this on the cover. Please avoid skeletons, corpses and revenants. This has nothing to do with the content.
I like meaningful landscapes in the background and a big figure in the front. That could be the mysterious protagonist Taar Wax, surrounded by a wide, tattered coat, which surrounds him with long coat tassels / twitches through the surroundings. In the background a landscape. Necromancy is gloomy and mysterious, certainly one can still depict "streaking" souls somehow. The protagonist could also be in motion, surrounded by his interwoven garments and a small blue wax figure on his shoulder.
But these are only suggestions, leave room for your creativity.
For the representation of the souls, the colour green could be used. Apart from that, I don't give any guidelines regarding colors, font and exact interpretation of the design. I give you free rein. Surprises me ;)
I look forward to your suggestions and wish you much success!
