I like the mysterious element
Simplicity is nice, but this is too simple

I'd like the title to be in the same type of font as my first two books. I'll attach those files. The mood should be mysterious. The book has a lot of ocean imagery, so I'd like that. The Boston skyline would be great to incorporate too but I'm open to all creative ideas.
One thought I had was a view from inside Boston Harbor, with either a luminescent sea creature or a Lavender Bubble snail in the foreground and the Boston skyline in the background. I don't think that quite communicates Mystery, but I like it as a potential starting point. I've attached a document with links to pictures of the purple bubble snail and suggestions of some other imagery that appears in the book.
Update: I think the snail thing is tough. Since most people aren't familiar with this creature, it has to read really clearly, which appears hard to do when incorporating other elements. There's something in the symbolism I love, but I'm not wedded to the snail. There is also imagery about phosphorescent ocean creatures in the book and that might be fun to play with instead. I had thought mermaid but a kind person pointed out that it would confuse genres since this isn't fantasy. So no mermaids. :)
Lo que debe evitarse
I'd like the cover to have a murder mystery element without anything too graphic. The victim was drowned, so blood and weapons don't make sense. I also don't want to necessarily give away the drowning, although I don't feel strongly about that.
I want to avoid a picture of Penny unless it's just from the back or vague. I want the reader to imagine her face. Also, the murder victim is her boyfriend, not her.
