Grief Protocols is a story about a young man returning home to bury his mother. The story explores what it is like to manage an estranged family and an online presence at the same time. It also explores wearable technology and a future tech club scene. This is a short story I am releasing digitally only. It is the first of a collection of near future short stories.

Necesidades de diseño
Since this is the first in a series of near future short stories I am looking for an aesthetic that can be carried forward. I am drawn to the covers of Clarkesworld Magazine, Autonomous by Newitz, Shades of Magic by VE Schwab [by far my favorite set of covers in a very long time]. I am looking for something that speaks to the integration of technology and nature. For this first story I could see an overall graphic of a man in a black suit turned away from the reader with a foreground of data streaming down the page [i.e. Matrix or Zeroes by Wendig], but I am also interested in being surprised. I want something that pops.
Lo que debe evitarse
No caskets. No grave stones. No funeral imagery.
This needs to be recognizable at a thumbnail scale.
