MEETING PEOPLE, A Hi-Lo Level 3-4 Story Collection for Adults
Sally J. Walker
Biografía del autor
While still working as a critical care nurse, Sally Walker started her full-time writing career over thirty years ago and quickly won acclaim for her stage plays and screenplays, internationally published poetry, non-fiction, and fiction. During her part-time tenure for 18 years as the company’s Editorial Director, the Fiction Works published three of her novels, as well as her contributions to two adult literacy anthologies. Those contributions were pulled out to compile the AAE title MEETING PEOPLE. The collection A WRITER’S YEAR came out from TFW in electronic format in early 2011 and was revised into the AAE edition in 2019. Three screenwriting textbooks were TFW-published in electronic versions in 2012 and evolved into AAE’s first two expanded textbooks of Sally’s 2019 LEARN Series. Four fiction textbooks in the series will follow, as well as more novels, novella collections, and juvenile works.
Descripción del libro
MEETING PEOPLE is a book of seven fiction stories for adults reading at the Third and Fourth Grade levels. They include a story from 1810 England, two stories of the Old West, a modern mystery that’s kind of spooky, and three love stories of life in the 1930’s, a modern nursing home, and a modern fairy tale of love-at-first sight in a mall.

Male/Female (angled so face not visible) sitting in upholstered chair with book open on lap. Around the chair stand opaque/grayish spirits of characters from the book's stories . . . including an 1870's cowboy in cowboy hat, a tall male mall security guard in uniform standing behind a young woman in a long winter coat, a female runner in spandex running shorts with sweat-band holding her hair back and, in front of the chair facing the reader, a 10-yr-old English girl of 1810 with ringlets, pinafore over her knee-length dress, and high-button shoes, one hand resting on the head of a sitting, large (Standard-sized) Fox Hound. NOTE: The concept is that the illiterate reader is meeting these characters in the pages of the open book. Subtitle should be much smaller than simple title MEETING PEOPLE. (If this book markets well, there may be future similar covers of reader at a kitchen table or on a park bench with various characters around the reader. )
