Your Child's Inner Drive: Parenting by Personality from Toddlers to Teens
Wendy Gossett, MA
Biografía del autor
Wendy Gossett has been an educator for most of her life, working in public and private schools with all age groups. In addition to this, she worked in the business realm, training teams and individuals to work more efficiently by implementing Temperament Psychology concepts. However, her master’s degree in education and all her experience, couldn’t prepare her for the arrival of her second child Jordan, who she didn’t understand! Daughter Jordan, son Nathan and husband Greg, inspired her to embark on a new journey; using Temperament Psychology to teach families how to understand each other better for a more harmonious home. Most of the stories in this book are from thousands of real families and individuals she has worked with over the years, but some are about her own topsy-turvy family dynamics.
Descripción del libro
For the last decade I have been helping thousands of families understand their kids according to their unique temperament or drive. This book began when, one by one, I began writing their stories.
I decided to take my knowledge and expertise of temperament psychology, as an educator in the classroom and in the workplace, to develop these directions. This guide for parents talks about how we often can't see our child's strengths when they are different from our own. A parent might see their child as argumentative, when really they are an excellent negotiator. This book teaches parents all about their child's unique strengths. I use car metaphors in the book to talk about how parenting is not just a one way street, about the road ahead, the kind of car we drive and the passengers inside. However, I don't want readers to confuse the book cover for a driver's ed manual. It needs to clearly convey both the inner drive of the child as well as the journey of parenting. I would like a clean, simple but intriguing idea. I would like something original. I love the picture of the matchbox cars in a circle. One could be going away from the circle and there could be a child in the middle. Or the V in drive could be turned into a forking road or two roads diverting. I am open to whatever at this point, but would like something clean and eye catching.
I had already decided to call the book in progress, "Guiding Their Drive: Parenting Your Kids from the Inside Out", when something quite ironic happened. I went viral and became a meme all over the world for being, "The Mom Who Dances in Traffic and Mortifies Her Kids."

Super simple but so INTRIGUEING!
I like the font and the simplicity of the way the message was conveyed
Love the colors and the font
Love the way the design came alive to look like birds...kind of goes along with my bad road sketch that turned into strengths and imbalances
My favorite! I talk about the 8 psychological functions of the brain which bring about the drive
Love the font! the words in the background could be strengths and imbalances of the strengths
Love the font and the playful colors
I like the mind imagery because it shows drive
This is sheer brilliance! Look at the subtitle...totally makes me want to buy it.

My idea is to mix a crash test dummy mom wearing a sundress to show her chest emblem, a disheveled wig and perhaps wide cartoon eyes. She is the mom holding the hand of a real child who looks very ornery and devious. I thought the colors could reflect road signs, crossing guards, pylons etc.
Lo que debe evitarse
Too literal...kid driving a car etc.
