Falling Behind- How China overtook US in the Fight Against Climate Change and How US Can Catch Up
Biografía del autor
Fahd Nazir is a graduate of Thunderbird School of Global Management in International Relations and Business. He has worked in the Oil & Gas industry, and has seen firsthand how businesses can impact climate change and have insight into what corporations prioritize. He believes individuals, corporations and government working together is the only way to combat climate change. He believes many of us would like to help the environment, but have no idea what can be done on a large scale. This book will provide some insight and best practices from other countries.
Descripción del libro
China is setting an example for the US – and the world – to follow. We should all take note. Less than 20 years ago, China was the world’s factory – and it had the skies to prove it. Air pollution was at its highest levels, with smog a normal occurrence in many cities and respiratory illnesses commonplace. Today, China is the leading producer of clean energy, generating more solar and wind power than any other country. It has also significantly cleaned up its air, with a 65% decline in sulfur dioxide and 33% decline in CO concentrations. Meanwhile, the United States, after suffering several setbacks in its environmental policies, is playing catch up. What can the US take away from China’s unique experience? In Falling Behind, here is just a fraction of what you will discover: ● How China is slowly becoming a global climate leader and is taking over from where the US left off ● Why the world’s largest carbon emitter is being praised for its actions on climate change ● The 3 major areas of climate action where China is beating the US – and how it has managed to do so, despite America’s head start ● Lessons from China’s failures and successes in tackling pollution and climate change that the US can learn from ● Why no realistic solution to climate change is possible without the participation of both China and the United States And much more. The clock is ticking on climate change and serious action is urgently needed. While China still has a long way to go before it can be considered a “green” country, let alone a carbon neutral one, its actions show how seriously they are taking this goal. Although the world often pits the US against China, when it comes to saving the planet, any progress by any country in reducing emissions is good for everyone.
