My editor said this is a book that everyone needs but no one will buy. The reason is no one thinks their own communication needs improving, it is always someone else that needs help. My primary audience for this book is technical professionals wanting to improve their day to day communication. The secondary audience is more generic, any business professional who wants to be a better communicator at work. The content is gender-neutral, location-neutral and age-neutral. However, my networking sales and marketing will be primarily aimed at technical professionals in their 30's who are looking to move up in their careers and need to address their communication skills. I am focusing on the UK, USA and India as target markets.

Book size: 5.5 x 8.5 inches I prefer clean, simple, professional designs. I am drawn to white covers but am open to ideas that are eye-catching but not garish. Malcolm Gladwell books have a lot of examples that I like. The principles in the book are all focused on how to communicate clearly and concisely in the first minute. This leads me to think of clock face, stopwatch, hourglass images. The topic is communication and so illustrating people communicating comes to mind too. Things like speech bubbles are ok, but the topic is not just about verbal communication, it is also relevant to written comms. I don't want this to be labelled as just a public speaking book.
Lo que debe evitarse
Please don't make this look like a fad/internet marketing book. This is not just a platform for me to get speaking gigs, it is a presentation of new concepts in the field of communication. I want this to be a book that professionals and executives would be happy to have on their desks or bookshelves. Thanks :)
