The book is about death/dying/and grieving. It's written by teens for teens. So the audience is the teen demographic.
I'm a middle school teacher who happened to have 15 students who had lost a significant family member in their short lifetime. They've banded together to tell their heart-wrenching stories in order to help other teens like themselves facing a death or those who have already lost that beloved family member.

I want a book cover that is beautiful yet hip.
I have always loved collages and the heart shape. Maybe a collage with a giant heart on top with the title inside. (I'm just throwing ideas out there.) Or a bouquet of heart shaped balloons with messages written upon them to the deceased loved ones. I trust you can come up with something that fits.
I'm truly open to ANYTHING as long as it resonates with the theme and subject matter.
Some background info that may help: I start out with how the book came to be and how spirit brought them together. How else do you explain me getting all of them at one time? Then each student tells their raw story. Each student concludes with a letter to the parent or loved one who is deceased. After their letter, I write them each a letter to help them cope through what's plaguing them due to my knowledge of the kid, my interactions with them, and what happened to them. Their parents were murdered (4), cancers, suicides, drug/alcohol abuse related deaths, one roadside bomb, a car accident, and one hit by a car riding a bike. Their goal in sharing is to help other teens who may be going through what they have endured. A recurring message is to Remember, Honor, and thereby Heal.

I sincerely thank you for your efforts in coming up with the best cover possible for my students. They have truly suffered and need a positive in their life. Something they can be proud of.
