Growing Your Business When YOU Are The Business
by Mark LeBlanc
There are plenty of books about being your own boss, how to start a business, run a business, build your brand, market and make a sale, hire and find good people. . . you name it. But when YOU are the business, when you’re a graphic artist (like you), consultant of any kind, speaker, trainer, writer, realtor, therapist, financial planner, dentist, mortgage broker, massage therapist or oh so many others, a business book—even one for small business—may not be relevant.
I wrote "Growing Your Business When YOU Are the Business" specifically for people who sell their expertise, time, talent or other service. What "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" was to communicate Steven Covey’s passion and principles for productivity, "Growing Your Business When YOU Are the Business" is mine for helping solo-practitioners, service providers and micro-businesses build and sustain the momentum they need to be successful, however they define it, on a consistent basis.
As for the design, I want a typographical treatment of the book title to dominate the cover. (ala The 7 Habits and other examples in attached files) "Growing Your Business" can be smaller at the top, with YOU being the major focal point.
Colors: I’m looking for your creative input as to whether the cover is a color background or white. If color, is it solid, gradient, some texture—that’s up to you. I’ve also explored a golden tone, as in gold metal, not harvest gold. Reverse the title or make it a color? Again, that’s up to you.
