I need a book cover for my memoir.
On front, I need the title in the top middle, "Dare to Be RAW, possibly in deep red or teal/turquoise. (screenshot example attachmed including back cover content)
Underneath in smaller letters: A true story of triumph over tragedy.
Subtitle somewhere: Growing in resilience and hope while journeying through the battlefields of life.
At the top or bottom, put Foreword by: Kary Oberbrunner author of Day Job to Dream Job, The Deeper Path, My Secret Name
The book cover will come in soft and hardcovers with createspace and ingram publishing in 5x8.
The book is my story about overcoming great obstacles, growing in resilience and never giving up hope. Chapter titles are:
1- All the Ingredients for a Happy Life - What went wrong?
2- The Mask - The cost of being an imposter
3- Anorexia – How anorexia became my voice
4- Domestic Violence - Welcome to hell
5- A Surprise Encounter - The day everything changed
6- A Fresh Start – Learning to fly with broken wings
7- I Do - In sickness and in health
8- ‘Til Death Do us Part - Overtaken by grief
9- The Collapse - My road to recovery
10- Ding. Ding. - In the ring with cancer
11- Turning the Page - A second chance at love and life
12- Keeping it Real - From my heart to yours
I want the book cover to be raw, warm, inviting, authentic, I love barn wood or forest, or animal hide/fur.
I attached a pic of myself that I would like you to try to incorporate (me writing with a feather). Both the original and edited versions with more warmth. I see it as the bottom half of the book with title at the top? Or you could have more of the barnwood all the way to the top with me on the bottom so its not cut in half. This is an idea but I give you total freedom to be creative and do your own thing with or without my pic. I have attached other pics I like that I find depict a bit of what I am looking for. I want to portray raw, authentic, bare, even blood, or bruises, but at the same time, definitely not make it too dark, but give off hope in the brokenness. (through sunrise, or the eyes of a person being hopefull...) I don't want modern, I want warmth and very rustic and appealing to all age groups and male/females equally.
Back cover and spine could bleed over the design from the front cover, to show blending of the two.
If you create from my barnwood pic, perhaps we could have the barnwood go to the back and have a distressed paper looking background with soft edges for the back cover content to be written on. I love native themes. Feathers, arrows, ...anything really that would depict a bit of the Revenant, Last of the Mohicans, Dances with wolves movies....
