FINAL 24 HOUR UPDATE: I have some great designs so far and I am preparing to choose my finalists. There is one type of design that I am missing that I think may look great. Take a look at the image I attached. This is an example I am looking for DO NOT copy the design. I don't think mountains and trees are relevant to my book.
Feel free to message with more questions.
UPDATE: I am not a huge fan of the pipe direction these designs have taken. After reviewing my brief I believe that my lack of direction might have been a negative. Here is some more insight.
I want a bold design that is simple and stands out. Not too busy and without of the use of stock images that you see all the time (drawn machines, social media icons, etc.)
I like the concept of cold to hot. What causes ice to melt? What creates fire? What else is cold? Would the silhouette of a refrigerator on fire look interested as a book cover? (this is the train of thought I would take. Creative ideas that represent temperature change, not just simply ice on fire)
I dont want to give too much detail because I would like the artist to have creative freedom. Below are some high level bullet points.
Readability is important to me
I would like the cover to be eye catching because of an interesting feature
I do not want it to look "salesy" ex: big red font on white.
I would like a design that could be adapted for other uses, such as websites, business cards, etc.
