We are looking for a book cover for the first book in a series titled "Rationality: From AI to Zombies". The editor wants the cover to be "visually striking, clean, and aesthetically pleasing." Our target audience is intellectuals, academics, scientists, and the like. Some random adjectives that capture things about the book's intended spirit: audacious, idiosyncratic, fun, driven, passionate, intellectually formidable, authoritative, witty, sardonic, science-fiction-y, irreverent, elegant, precise, substantive.
While the scope of this project is only for the first cover, we're planning to release six volumes in total. Special attention MUST be given to the fact that this design will be a "template" for the following five volumes. For example, the colour scheme may vary from book to book, but the palette must work in a set. Also, the layout must be flexible enough to work with both long and short titles.
The six volume titles are:
1. Map and Territory
2. How to Actually Change Your Mind
3. The Machine in the Ghost
4. Mere Reality
5. Mere Goodness
6. Becoming Stronger
All are by the same author: Eliezer Yudkowsky
The covers should note the series title somewhere, "Rationality: From AI to Zombies"; but lean toward making this less prominent/fairly inconspicuous.
