DESIGN BRIEF – Novel
Book Title: Love Letters from the Grave
Author’s Name: Dr. Paul Gersper
Love Letters from the Grave is a book chronicling an epic love story, detailing how a young man found his way from prison, to the love of his life.
The goal of the book cover is to "pop off the shelf" as a small thumbnail on the Amazon platform.
The design should be simple, bold, and eye-catching.
It’s important the book catches the eye and stands out in the crowded self-help category. We are looking for a design that sells, not something that just looks pretty. It is crucial that the book design is polished and engaging.
We are open to any imagery or illustration you choose. Here are a few words/ideas that come to mind when thinking of our book: Tombstone, Love, Love Letters,
Description of tombstone (as detailed in book):
". . . . . She also paid close attention to the gravesite; and, especially, to the tombstone. It was a beautiful tombstone. At the top of the stone, their surname was engraved in large letters. Under this, Charlie's name and lifespan were engraved on the left side, over his grave; and, on the right side, her name was engraved; with enough space underneath to engrave the dates of her lifespan - once her body was laid underneath, in the grave next to her husband. Finally, at the bottom of the stone two hands were engraved, with the larger one, rising from the left, clasping the smaller one, rising from the right. She dreamily thought of the appropriateness of the clasping
hands; because Charlie had always held her hand whenever they walked together.. . . . ."
We like a bold color palette that evokes joy, happiness, and success. We like it when book titles stand out and it is clear what the book is about right away. (You do not have to use our company’s color palette, but for reference our primary colors are: PMS 639C and White. We use the following secondary colors: PMS Orange 021C, PMS 7408C, PMS 375C, PMS 2975C, PMS 3005C, PMS 2617C, Cool Gray 2C, Warm Gray 7C, Warm Gray 11C.)
We have two books out under our independent publisher and would like them all to have a similar color set: The Belief Road Map (http://amzn.to/1ZP5Q3h) + Turning Inspiration into Action (http://amzn.to/1SIunaP)
Note that on the back cover we would like the ISBN and the Happy Living logo on the bottom.
