The story has a very dirty, raw, nasty, hot,
I have a very specific image I would like captured.
There is a girl's stuffed doll, a foot high, every inch of her skin scorched from the dozens of cigarettes piled around her soiled dress, filling the crack between the mattress and wall.
I was imagining only seeing the lower half of the doll, but am good with other ideas. Just need to make sure it is not a recognizable or trademarked doll.
The other idea would be for you to read this passage and see what image you come up with.
Mandy let go of my hand then grabbed hold of my belt, her fingers sliding inside my pants, brushing against me. As if she didn’t notice where she was touching, she pulled me down the hallway.
With one hand on the doorknob, she said, “Don’t be nervous. That’s the first rule.”
The hallway smelled like the locker room when the urinals were clogged and we still used them. But I couldn’t say that. I couldn’t say anything. Mandy’s fingers were wrapped around me, taking my pulse, checking to see if I really was old enough.
Mandy opened the door, revealed where the smell was coming from. The room wasn’t as pitch-black as the hallway, but I could barely make out the dresser leaning left against the back wall. A small mattress stuffed in the corner.
She pulled me into the room and let go beside the mattress. “Have a seat.”
I sat down on the corner of her bed and tried not to shake. The window across from me was covered with a black sheet. It kept in all of the heat and kept out most of the light. A single ray slipped through the top corner and lit the edge of the dresser. When Mandy turned away and closed the door, I wiped the sweat off my forehead and took a deep breath.
The smell was alive, all around me, heavy like the heat. I got that she smoked, but it was more than that. It was like the summer Mom didn’t wash my sheets. Like the time I went to wipe my ass and the paper split; the reek that wouldn’t wash off for days.
I'll attach an image of Brightside in case you think it'd be good to keep similar font, etc.
I will be using this image for the audiobook as well.
