I live in Wisconsin but have traveled the world, living in Japan for three years when I was a child. I was able to draw from a lifetime of experience with diverse cultures and regions when writing this novel. For two decades, I worked in the high-tech industry as an award-winning technical writer and was the Program Manager for the Wisconsin chapter of the Society for Technical Communications before I switched to writing fiction. I am a co-founder of the Waunakee Writers Group and regularly speak to groups and travel.

Stylistically, look to DeviantArt.com for some of the darker fantasy images.
I’d like the cover to depict the scene from which the book takes its title: The sorceress, cornered on a mountainside, calls down a snowstorm to shield herself from the demon. The demon turns the snow into flakes of lava, utterly destroying a city at the foot of the mountain.
The demon is a creature of fire, taking form as a Japanese geisha dressed in a red kimono with black sleeves. I envision a highly stylized design for the kimono with long, sweeping sleeves.
The sorceress draws her power from ice and snow. She is albino with a heart-shaped face with high cheekbones, violet eyes, pointy ears (but of normal size) and long white hair falling down her back. She dresses in a white tunic and thigh-high white boots with lavender lines of power running across her clothes, reinforcing them. She wears a black onyx gem imbued with purple magic on her forehead, held in place by a thin gold chain.
If this is too complex to work, then as a fallback I’d be interested in just a single figure, such as the sorceress sitting on an ivory throne, set against a background of snow turning to lava as it falls.
I’m wide open to other ideas; we could feature the demon on the cover, or just the conflagration of the city, or something else.
