I need an ebook cover designed for an upcoming novel I am writing. The cover should feature:
- The tittle: "The Puppeteer"
- The author "Cory Bradbury"
- A sub-heading "Who's controlling you?"
I am flexible with the placement of these elements, and welcome creativity in the the design of the cover.
My current idea for the cover involves a person, working class in business attire, dangling as a marionette. The marionette should not have defining features, maybe even blurred in some fashion as to obscure who it is. Having it gender neutral would be a bonus. This is due to the narrator (who is the puppet) never being given a gender or description at all. It could be anyone, and is designed to represent and connect with the reader.
Beyond that, I am flexible.
The novel follows the narrator, who's life is not going well in nearly every aspect. The narrator attempts to change parts of its life in pursuit of its dreams, however is constantly met with struggle and frustration as if someone else is in control, and will not allow change. Multiple people present themselves as possible candidates for the puppeteer, such as the narrator's manager Smith, the narrators ex-partner Alex, or narrator's boss and mentor Jones, who all appear to be restricting the narrator from pursing its dreams.
The narrator is also constantly reminded by all the characters to wake up, and is often called insane.
The narrator, after snapping, discovers that the person controlling him was not anyone he suspected, but his own mind, and the limiting beliefs created in the past, and the voice in its head - and in all of our heads (the ego) - is revealed to be the true puppeteer.
This realisation leads the narrator down the correct path, and towards its dreams.
