The book will come in two versions: paperback 5.5 x 8.5 inches (Create Space) and hardcover case laminates 5.5 x 8.5 inches (Ingram publishing specs). Their websites have the correct dimensions, bleed, etc.
I have two ideas, although I want to stress that I'm very open to the artist's original creative interpretations. Throughout the book, I use the analogy of person's Passion being a Dream Seed that needs to be carefully nurtured and guarded by the Dreamer as it's protected from (and then presented to) the Dream-killer/s.
My first idea is a realistic rendition of a woman (waist up) holding a small potted plant in one hand, her other hand/arm covering it protectively as people around her (at least one male and one female, could also be teen or child along with an adult) in depictions of mocking/scorning (pointing, laughing, rolling eyes, shaking finger, etc.).
The second idea is of a seedling with a foot/shoe about to step on it.
With either suggestion, the artist would have to somehow show that the plant (either potted or in the ground) is the sprout of a Dream Seed. It doesn't matter if the artist uses photography or drawings, etc., but I want it to be realistic rather than cartoonish, dynamic rather than static. I want it to evoke emotion. While detail is great (in the artwork itself), I want simplicity rather than busy-ness in the cover as a whole.
Again, I also welcome the artist's completely original ideas. I would love to be wonder-struck with creative awesomeness!
