I invision a woman on the cover. I prefer her skin color is an "off" color-so red, blue, or even grey scaled for effect. This way, her skin color could reflect a person of any race. One side of her face is covered by this beautiful, shiny, gold or bronze type mask. On the mask side of the face, there is one tear that we see that is reflecting off the side covered by the mask representing her pain. The other side of her face has written on it words like shame, guilt, anger, depression, etc. Somehow in the image, I want to work in the symbolism of them being a God. Whether that's a cross being someone on the book, or something else creative. This book really must convey that a person feels trapped in their pain, but are covering it up with a mask. If the author has another concept that they think would convey this message better, I'm open to ideas. It just needs to be dramatic, and convey the message in the book.
A description of the mask is below. I also attached an image that I found online that gives an "idea" of the half face; however, it's not exactly what I'm looking for.
This mask, like a physical one, is designed to deflect, hide, and prevent the outside world from seeing what lies underneath. The owner wears the mask to protect them, but while shielding the exterior, it holds what’s inside captive. It is the keeper of secrets and the master of illusions. The mask despises authenticity, it fears transparency, and knows no vulnerability. The mask will stop at nothing to keep its image in tact, and the emotions that stand in the way of that at bay. In it’s simple form, the mask is the façade we project to the world.
