My book is a 6 x 9 paperback that I'll be publishing through Kindle Direct. It's 440 pages. You can find a dimension calculator here: https://kdp.amazon.com/en_US/help/t…G201834180
I'm looking for a simple and minimalist design (e.g., white-ish background) with an image and/or title that "pops" on the front cover.
This book presents academic research in a lighthearted way. So I'll be targeting researchers and laypeople. I'd like a cover that is professional and serious, yet catchy and modern for a broad audience.
I might want an image of a tangled brain. Perhaps with hands on the sides pulling strings (to reinforce the "unraveling" part of the book's subtitle). I don't have PhotoShop skills, but you can see the accompanying covers for an idea and starting point. I also chose a handwritten font to resemble entanglement of the letters, but I'm not a huge fan of the current font choice. Maybe you can find a better one? If you use a sans-serif font, I think I'd prefer Source Sans Pro. I use that font in everything that I do so that I can reinforce my content and brand. Also, the cover I provided is merely an idea; I'm open to other ideas too.
Feel free to use any stock photos that I could purchase for less than $100.
