Jason Dyken is a financial planner who focuses on doctors and dentists. Jason was a doctor himself for nearly a decade, so he understands the field well. His website is http://dykenwealthstrategies.com .
This book cover needs to combine the two ideas of (1) healthcare [doctors, medicine] and (2) finances [money, planning, retirement].
FRONT COVER DESIGN
Please keep the design clean and professional. The cover should not be crowded, though elaborate designs are not necessarily bad. Our publishing firm has run multiple previous cover design contests; in them, the #1 reason for disqualifying a cover has been unprofessional appearance. These book covers MUST look like you could see them in Barnes & Noble, and feel like they fit right in. These are not random Kindle books some quack puts up—these are professional, business-building, serious books. So make it look good. 😃
Because the target audience is doctors, the cover needs to have a clean, professional, credible, authoritative feel.
We would discourage you from using a stock photo of a doctor on the cover.
Aside from that, be creative!
BACK COVER DESIGN
The back cover should harmonize with the front cover. Preferably, use a single dominant color for both the front and back cover. (Other complementary colors are of course okay too.)
The publisher logo is attached. Please place this in the bottom left-hand corner of the back cover. Also place it on the bottom of the spine. (Be sure to resize it so it fits on the spine properly.)
You may adjust the logo color (to black-and-white or otherwise) if doing so will improve the cover’s appearance. (As a note, this is one of the quickest ways we can tell if a designer knows how to make a back cover. Most of the time, tossing the logo in unadjusted does not look good.)
