Descripción del libro
All was quiet for the small community of crabbers on Wedgewood Island. They hauled their crab pots from the sea and lived peacefully on McGloin Beach, never thinking about the abandoned factory across the marsh. Everything changes when a mysterious company buys the factory and begins renovations. Dangerous things begin crawling from the marsh and long forgotten memories of a violent past creep to the surface. The islanders have to confront monsters both real and remembered if they’re going to survive.
Annie has only known the sleepy life of a crabber’s daughter. She spent her summers on a beach blanket, lost in a book. In the final days of summer, her world shifts. Someone from the past returns to the island and her father goes missing. She doesn’t realize the danger until it’s too late. To rescue her father, she has to uncover the sordid secrets of her community and face the truth about herself. Can she rescue her father without losing herself? Can she save the crabbers on McGloin from the rising tempest that threatens to swallow them?
Wedgewood is a contemporary fantasy novel set on the Texas coast in the early 1990s. Weaving together modern Texas culture with ancient Native American myths, this novel creates a unique world at once familiar and exotic.
Público al que se apunta
Most likely adults, maybe young adults. It doesn't have sex, but it does have some violence and gore. People who like urban fantasy, contemporary fantasy, weird fantasy, horror, would also like this book.

I'd prefer something more on the minimalist end of the spectrum. Not abstract, but not too busy. This is primarily a story about a teenage girl dealing with defining/understanding herself, but set in the larger context of her community and its generational/historical conflicts. The antagonist is more of a corporation/organization than a specific person or thing. It has Lovecraftian elements, especially at the climax. This is also a small, isolated community, in the vein of Thomas Hardy. Only on the coast.
I'd like something dark, foreboding, mysterious. I like the feeling of the Invaders from Mars (1986) movie cover. But not the B-movie font. I also like the feeling of Winslow Homer's sea/coastal paintings. But I don't want it to look like a calendar print. I'd like sea oats incorporated into it, if possible.
Lo que debe evitarse
I want to avoid typical fantasy visual tropes and styles. The main character is a teenage girl, but I don't want this to look like a YA paranormal romance cover.
