I need a 5x8 book cover designed for print (front/back/spine), and I'll also need a copy of the front cover for ebook.
Title: The Black Jewel
Author: Cassie Clarke
Blurb (the first three lines centered at the top)
A city in ruin.
A forest filled with secrets.
One girl with the power to change it all.
Trapped in a mundane existence in the heart of a deadly forest, Ela often imagined what life must be like away from the trees. A world without rules and restrictions, with the freedom to do anything. She’d be safe from the ever-lurking threat of the Bowen Elders, the men who seemed so determined to hurt her best friend, Caden.
And then Caden found the map. A map that would lead them straight into the city of Ezeth.
Ela thought all her problems would be solved if she could just make her way into the city, but the outside world is nothing like she imagined. It’s filled with dangers, dark magic and, above all, secrets. Secrets about her past. And if she doesn’t uncover the truth before it’s too late, her past could lead to the downfall of the once-great city, especially if she can’t find a way to stop the dark power rising inside the castle before it’s too late…
It's a young adult romance/fantasy, primarily aimed at older girls (16-25) and I want it to be instantly recognisable as being part of this genre.
The main character, Ela, has waist-length, wavy blonde hair. Often wears a white dress (kind of medieval style, with those big long sleeves).
Key settings in the book that could be used:
The woods - dark, with an unnatural blue light, and a strange mist trailing across the floor.
The city - blazing hot, sand everywhere. Kind of arabian feel. The castle is on the top of a clifftop, with a set of steep stairs leading up to it.
The room in the grand finale - made of white marble, floor to ceiling. Two stone pillars with a pedestal in between them. On the pedestal is a plump red cushion, with the titular jewel on top. There's a window behind it.
The jewel itself is an emerald, but it has inky tendrils of black spread across it, like it has been contaminated with something evil.
All that said, feel free to surprise me! I can't wait to see what you come up with.
