This was the notes that the publisher gave for the designs that i have added
Notes from EVM call about the vision of the front cover design: Author is open to suggestions. Jim had a couple of thoughts. One he thought this has got to be a strong book but he thinks it has to be of course attractive to the reader and they got to want to pick it up. We’ve got some things that we can play off of with “5-Star Reputation” and of course we can play off that “5-Star” theme. We could do something graphic with that. Even if we just did “5-Star Reputation” in the words the way we treat those words in the subtitle, if we just did something unique with those just to play off the “5-Star” that could be a strong representation of it as well. “Raving Patients” of course that gives us an opportunity to do something with the “Raving” theme so we can show projection of the brand that way. But Jim does think that when he looks at the author’s website, he has a very classy looking brand and we need to in some way make sure this book reflects that so he doesn’t want to go too far outside of that field. He doesn’t want to come in and just do some weird image or graphic and then weird fonts when that’s just not what’s going to jive with what the author is doing outside of the book. Jim wants to make sure that everything doesn’t have to be exact but he wants to make sure that everything has a similar style set up so that way when people see the book and read it, they come to the author, there’s a connection there. They are not expecting one thing and see something different. Let’s keep this one classic. Let’s look at maybe a cover concept where we just focus on the words. We do something to really highlight “Raving Patients” and Jim likes that “5-Star Reputation” … maybe a simple graphic. And then let’s maybe look at a different direction for the cover where we utilize some sort of image whether that’s someone with just a massive happy smile, where we can see the teeth, it’s bright, vibrant, or if it’s a focal image that we use as the backdrop and we put words around it and that focal image can be a number of things whether we play off of “5-Star” or if we play off the “Raving” so we could do something that evokes that feeling of shouting out about the book or about the person that’s reading the book. So Jim feels there are a couple of ways we could do it. We’ll let our design team come up with some ideas and let the author take a look at them and make sure he is happy with the way we are going on it.
We want the design team to go to Dr. Len’s website http://www.drlentau.com and we don’t want to mimic anything on it we don’t necessary be what we see on the website but just take a look so they can see the style how it is set up, kinds of colors that are used and then we can play off of that so we can use those as backdrops to be able to build from and what ever we do from either concept direction we go with, let’s make sure the title stands out. We got a two word title that’ really strong and what most practitioners want in their life, “Raving Patients” so let’s make sure that stand out nice and strong and then with the subtitle, let’s be careful, just because we say “Play Book” in the subtitle, we do not want this book cover to look like a playbook. Scratch that, that’s in the title only but let’s pay attention to “5-Star Reputation”. Let’s pay attention to “Raving Patients” and let’s build the feeling off of that so we can do something unique with the fonts, we can do something graphically that brings in or plays off of those words so anything that the design team wants to create there, Jim is completely open with. Let’s make sure the colors are professionally colors, let’s make sure they are strong and show support and then we’ll go from there. We have some very talented designers and just giving them a direction and then letting them go and do their job, they will create some beautiful cover designs for us. We could see a couple of covers in the two direction that we’re talking about, and could see one that’s completely different but we’ll let our design team look at everything and if they feel their’s a cover image or an idea they want to put together, we’ll let them be creative, author will be able to see what we’re looking at and give us their thoughts as well.
