ISI Books is looking for a striking cover design for the new, updated paperback edition of DUPES by New York Times bestselling author Paul Kengor. DUPES was first published in hardcover in 2010 and has sold well. The paperback edition will be updated with a new afterword by the author.
The cover design should convey that this is a serious work of history full of revelations about how American progressives have been manipulated by America's adversaries for 100 years (and counting).
You can see the hardcover jacket design here: https://www.amazon.com/Dupes-Americ…935191756/
We'd like to go with an all-new cover design--something fresh for the paperback.
One possible approach: Feature a sort of "rogues gallery" of various dupes revealed in the book.
The hardcover image--of Soviet leader Brezhnev kissing President Jimmy Carter--should still be in the mix, and smack in the middle, in fact. I have attached a copy of that image. Other possible head shots to include:
Franklin D. Roosevelt
Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall
Senator Ted Kennedy
George Bernard Shaw
The danger of the rogues gallery approach is that it has been done a lot. (See links below.) But I throw it out there, in case you have a creative way to execute the concept.
Another approach would be to do a much cleaner, icon-driven design on the front cover and include the rogues on the back cover (if at all).
See these examples of recent conservative books with good icon-driven designs:
