Set in the fictional northern city of Kilchester, Adam Maxwell is a writer whose subject are both detective and criminal alike. The Guardian said he had "funky scooby-doo pacing, as one would expect from one of the web's best indie writers.."
An early-adopter at heart, Adam has ridden the wave of indie publishing and ebooks to get over a half a million copies of his books into readers hands and onto their screens.
He has also been published by McSweeney’s and written The Lost Bookshop series of chapter books for younger readers and you can find out more about him at his website http://www.adammaxwell.com or on twitter @LostBookshop

Descripción del libro
A modern detective in the vein of Dirk Gently, the Defective Detective is Clint Barnum. But he is a detective who suffers from narcolepsy which means he falls asleep uncontrollably and especially when he is in a high pressure situation. In this book he is briefed on his first case but unfortunately falls asleep whilst this is happening. So before he can solve the case he has to find out what the case is first.
Following the only lead he has, Clint finds himself locked inside a department store, but who is in there with him? And is there really a cat prowling the shop floor? Or is there something a LOT bigger?
As he progresses he finds that the cat is a tiger and the few people locked in the shop with him are stocked there, stalked by the tiger.
The book culminates in a scene where Clint is running through the shop scattering raw meat from a shopping trolley to tempt the tiger into a trap...

Story is a black comedy I would like to show the detective side
If I was to describe the book it would be a detective novel first and although there are elements that are laugh out loud funny.
Serious look up front, could have comic elements in the background.
In the book the detective has narcolepsy which means he falls asleep at unfortunate moments.
He thinks he is sent to retrieve a lost cat. It turns out to be a tiger and he is locked in a department store with the tiger.

The images are to show the imprint logo, layout and general style.
It would be nice to have a link to the style of my novel The Dali Deception but it shouldn't copy that.
Don't use stock imagery.
