1. The tittle of my ebook is (please note "I Got The Job" should be in quotation marks): "I Got The Job!" The sub-tittle is (the subtile should not be in quotation marks): 8 Steps To Getting Hired My name and title should be on the bottom of the cover, but it should not be as prominent as the title & subtitle: Mark Andersen, Founder and CEO of CareerNav 2. CareerNav is my career coaching company and I've written an ebook about how to successful do a job search that I'm going to sell on Amazon Kindle. I need a cover for it. My target audience includes: -professionals who are doing a job search. I expect most of my buyers will be people who work in tech, marketing, finance, big pharma, Human resources, career centers or are university students etc. -the target age range is very broad from graduating college seniors to middle aged professionals. I expect most buyers to be aged 25-55. 3. I live in San Francisco, so the design should feel more like California than a traditional cover. I've worked in online marketing for 13 years and my book is progressive, positive, supportive, and advanced for people that are comfortable using social media. For example, in my ebook I do not simply talk about basic things like "What is Linkedin?". Instead I go into detail about how to create a great Linkedin profile and how to use other social media sites for your job search. So, the cover should appeal to early adopters. 4. The cover should feel very positive in a professional way. It should not feel like a traditional boring business cover. I really like the idea of the cover focusing on one image of "I Got The Job!", but it might be difficult to make that look really interesting and not fake. For example, I was thinking of an image of a person either talking into a cell phone giving a loved one the great news that "I Got The Job!" or maybe they could just be rejoicing themselves in a victory pose. It really doesn't have to have a person on the cover if you have a better idea. 5. I do not want a photo of a real person on the cover because they usually look artificial and those book covers look out of date quickly. Instead I'm assuming that a stylized graphic of a person would look better. If you include an image of a person, which you do not have to, please do not have them in a business suit. They should be dressed in fashionable, business casual people wear. To give you an example of an stylized version of a person that could work, here's an example of what I'm talking about, although this is a soccer play and grittier and darker than I'd want: a. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/1/15/Fifa_street_2012.jpg/250px-Fifa_street_2012.jpg b. But here are the types of covers I like for their creativity for what their title was trying to achieve: a. Thank you for your efforts. 1. I obviously prefer images that are royalty free. Please do not use any images I'd have to pay more than $200 for. 2. Follow these Amazon guidelines: https://kdp.amazon.com/self-publishing/help?topicId=A2J0TRG6OPX0VM#dim Specifically, regarding the cover dimensions according to Amazon: Dimensions Requirements for the size of your cover art have an ideal height/width ration of 1.6, this means: • A minimum of 625 pixels on the shortest side and 1000 pixels on the longest side • For best quality, your image would be 1563 pixels on the shortest side and 2500 pixels on the longest side Kindle Direct Publishing accepts two types of files for cover images: JPEG, or .jpeg TIFF, or .tif(f) Color Product images display on the Amazon website using RGB (red, green, blue) color mode. RGB is the color mode native to the web and many color screen displays, as these three colors displayed at varying levels of intensity create over 16 million colors. Use color images whenever possible and relevant. The Kindle reading device has a black and white screen today but Kindle applications for other devices, such as iPhone or PC, take advantage of color fonts and images. Borders for White Cover Art Cover art with white or very light backgrounds can seem to disappear against the white background. Adding a very narrow (3-4 pixel) border in medium gray will define the boundaries of the cover.
