Mary Alice Arthur is a Story Activist, using story to create positive systemic shift and for applying collective intelligence to the critical issues of our times. Her art is in creating brave and transformational spaces where people can find their most compelling stories and develop the practices to live into them. Joining story work and participatory practice means people can make wiser choices together. She is a sought-after process consultant and a favorite at events. In her client and coaching work people develop the skills and practice to engage others in leading-edge conversations about the power and potential in our world.

SYNOPSIS 365 ALIVE! Is a 52 week guided journey into the power and practice of story. Each week the reader receives an image and a quote -- either about story or about life -- as well as supporting text divided into three sections (see attached sample): “Think about”: going deeper into the the theme of the image and quote “Take Action”: outlining some practical tasks to go deeper with the material “Have a look”: offering a book, movie, video, or talk that supports the focus The book has four parts: Part One: The “getting started” time (4 weeks) Part Two: Delving into personal stories. (24 weeks). Part Three: How stories are at work in the world (15 weeks) Part Four: Your future story. (9 weeks). I’ve designed the content so the reader moves from week to week, but it will also work to dip in and out. This book is about story, which is the operating system for the human mind and our lens on the world. Our stories influence how we see the world and also how we be in the world. They give us our sense of agency and determine where we think we can go and what we believe we can influence. Perhaps these lines from the book will help the designer to think about what image might fit: "365 ALIVE! is about coming truly alive in your life As a storyteller and story practitioner, I’ve realized that what makes the difference to success or failure is determined by the stories we tell ourselves and each other. Our stories help us make sense and meaning of the world and through this lens we are either hindered or empowered to take action. Our stories are key to whether we believe we have agency in this world or not. They make the difference to whether we feel powerless or powerful and whether we can step up to take action and make an impact. Try on the idea that you live inside a story Your story came partially from your culture and context and somewhat from your family and a lot from how you decided to interpret the events that happened to you. Eventually a story can become either a doorway to something new or a prison of the past. But the key to the door is choosing to face the story, challenge the meaning and change. The business of stories is about waking up and making conscious choices to shape the stories that shape you. That is also the business of 365 ALIVE! This journey is about waking up and taking back the power of your story."
