Descripción del libro
My 76,000 word novel, More than one Truth, is a psychologically complex legal thriller. The main character and narrator of the book moves home after getting kicked out of the Navy, and finds himself assigned to a case defending a childhood friend from murder.
Público al que se apunta
Anyone who likes legal thrillers or crime novels. Anyone who reads authors like John Grisham, Harlan Coben, Michael Connelly, or Dan Brown. Also, the book is similar to the current slate of mainstream psychological domestic thrillers, like Gone Girl, Girl on the Train, and the Swedish Thriller books (Girl with the Dragon Tattoo). The book takes place in the small town of Chico, California.

Diseño de inspiración
I like the rudimentary font type, in that it's unique. (Not that specific font for my book, but just that it's unique).
I like the use of multiple images overlayed, without a lot of detail.
I like the use of shadow here.
I like the powerful use of a single icon to accentuate the title.
There's a cerebral element that nods to the narrator's psychological turmoil.
I like the simplicity and the clean lines.

Otros requisitos relativos al color
I prefer to keep a grayscale, but feel free to add an accent color or two. Avoid red.

Necesidades de diseño
Mentioned above under "what would you like on the front cover of your book," but I think it'd be cool to have an outline map of California, or maybe just the north part of the state, with the city of Chico's location demarcated by some object (like the scales of justice, or a star, or one of the items mentioned above). Surrounding the map could be some or all of the items I mentioned, giving the reader some clues that this is a thriller/legal/crime book (e.g. a simple drawing of a barking dog, an empty field, a remote cabin surrounded by pine trees, a chalk outline of a body, the scales of justice, etc).
That said, I'm open to suggestions, and I'm happy for the designer to use their creativity to do whatever they wish.
The book is fairly dark, but I like covers that don't give away too much, and are relatively simple.
Lo que debe evitarse
No stock imagery. Prefer a subdued, simplistic tone. Although I'm writing something similar to the John Grisham/Harlan Coben/Crime/Legal/Thriller novel genre, I'd prefer the book cover design to differentiate itself.
I like the various opacity levels and image overlays. I want to hint at the narrator's psychological turmoil.
