It is a counseling guide, which should be an attractive and thoughtful gift for the birthdays of mostly teenagers and young adults from their parents. This book should make for a great-looking birthday gift, which should make both the buyer and the reader happy. The content of this book is aimed at teenagers and it offers a great deal of helpful and researchbased advices for practical things (Driver’s license, first bank account, first insurance etc.) and valuable counsel on important life decisions (relationships, health, work ethics).

Buyer: - Demographics: o Male and female o Parents (generally any older close relative) to a teenager who is about to turn 18 o Want to make a great-looking gift o Care dearly about their child and want to feel good by gifting a helpful gift, who will teach them about life - Geographic: (Very important for both buyer and reader) o The target group is from Germany. That means that the cover should not have an American style. In Germany people have a slightly different taste, so it should stick well to German values. (this can be seen in the samples) - Psychographics: o Goals&Interests (reasons why they should buy the book) ▪ To gift an attractive and helpful book ▪ To see the reader happy when he opens up the gift and looks at it ▪ Book should fit the birthday theme (birthday gift) ▪ To feel like they (through the gift) helped the reader learn about practical things in life ▪ To help the teenager they care about succeed in life and to be ready for any hardships (should fit goals&interests of reader) o Common values: ▪ Family-oriented people, who care a lot about their wellbeing of their family and the upbringing of the younger family members ▪ Hard-working, realistic, success-oriented (would rather gift this guide than gift common teenagers' gifts like expensive electronics or clothing etc.) - Keep in mind this is the buyer of the book. They are buying this as a gift. Reader: - Demographics: o 17-19 years old - Geographic: (Very important for both buyer and reader) o The target group is from Germany. Hello, We hope you are well. We are glad you want to participate in this design contest, and you wish to design a great book cover for young adults, who will try to get their life on the right track after their 18th birthday. This book is supposed to be a gift for a teenager’s 18th birthday and gifted by his/her close family. ▶️Who are we? We are an aspiring and special book publisher for non-fiction and guidebooks from Germany. Our mission is to reach out a hand of support to people in need through our books and to help them make a positive change in their lives! Our goal for our books is simply: Good is not enough! Therefore, we came to you again for the book cover. :-) To give you an exact idea of what the cover needs for the project, please read the briefing carefully. Because some information is easy to implement but will increase your chances of winning. FIRST: Basically, we are open to all kinds of ideas that are within the given selection requirements. Here are a few more basic conditions, they may be self-evident, but they are also important! - Target group should feel addressed at first sight (right emotions, style and feeling) - The cover should pick up the purchase motives (see wishes of the target group) - The cover should make the viewer curious - The main title should be well readable even in the small view on Amazon - The cover should catch the eye on Amazon - We can imagine a cover with photo, a cover with graphics/illustration We look forward to working with you. See you soon! ▶️ About the Design Please include the target group description and emotions of the title in the design. It must unconsciously "click" with the viewer. - The overall design should be fun, young and fun-loving to the age of majority. - Think outside the box! We want a cover that appeals to as many people as possible but is also something new, that stands out. - Detailed elements from the book should be included (like moving out, insurance, driver’s license, work or college) How do we select the participants for the next round and the winner? This is very simple! About 50 people from the target group vote. The cover with the most votes wins.
Lo que debe evitarse
A dominant color (for example as backround): - No minimalist, extremely clean design - Not clichée, Not corny/banal - no very pastel colors -> the cover should be eye-catching on Amazon - Please do not upload mockups of your design. Only with a "normal" file I will have an unaltered impression of how it will look like at the end (on Amazon and printed).
