Jerry’s been getting away with it.
He’s pleaded incompetence when it comes to diapers and dodged the night feeds for two months straight. He’s kept the extortionate alimony payments going out to his ex. right off his current wife’s radar and put in just enough hours to keep the boss off his back.
But there’s only so long you can shirk your way out of trouble.
When a pal from the past interferes with the present, Jerry’s finely balanced world takes on a dangerous wobble. Suddenly, too many people want their pound of flesh and if Jerry can’t deliver, it’s anyone’s guess whose murderous fixations will get the better of them first.
Sit-com turns thriller when Jerry winds up on the late evening news reported missing, presumed murdered, his whereabouts a mystery to all but one person. Lies used to make life easier, but now one thing’s for sure: being Jerry is murder.

I like the simplicity - limited use of colour and font that has personality
I like the quirkiness of this. It does seem to capture humour and thrills...
This is the current cover on Amazon. Whist I quite like the ambiguity of the man on the floor (is he dead? Is he drunk?) Overall the cover does not have a genre identity I think it needs. I'm no longer using the comedy thriller subtitle. AND the man on the floor is not a given - I'd be happy to see designs without this.
I've added this cover because I think it has some interesting elements key to this tricky cross genre. The block colour of the background (which is bright but not acid) a quirky typeface (it's difficult to walk the line between thriller and humour) and the inclusion of an image which has a comedic but adult feel.

Front covers for the authors Carl Hiaasen, Christopher Brookmyer, John O'Farrell, Timothy Hallinan, Tim Dorsey, Caimh McDonnell and Catharina Ingelman-Sundberg are a good place to reference. A flat background in a bright but not acidic colour incorporating an image that might be drawn rather than beautifully photographic (but not necessarily! I don't want to rule any creativity out). The title is a play on words "It's Killing Jerry" meaning a) he's having a really bad time and b) lots of people actually want to kill him. In general it's a fun read but I want the cover to appeal to the thriller audience, not total comedy. Font could be quirky to convey humorous style. FYI the story is set 50% in London, 50% Las Vegas.
Lo que debe evitarse
Whilst cartoons and vector art could work really well I want to be careful that the cover doesn't look like a children's book
