Hello designers. This should be a fun one. We’d like to see designs by Monday morning (7/31), NYC time. We’d like for you to design a 6” x 9” paperback book jacket for us. Here’s the information on the book:
Title: 96 Great Interview Questions to Ask Before You Hire
Edition: Third Edition
Bullets: Identify high-potential candidates • Build immediate rapport and trust • Probe beyond superficial answers • Spot “red flags” that indicate evasions or untruths • Gauge cultural fit • Evaluate freelance and remote workers • Get references to provide real information • Successfully negotiate job offers
Author: Paul Falcone
Text under Paul Falcone: Author of 2600 Phrases for Effective Performance Reviews
Burst: Over 150,000 copies sold!
Audience: all managers, human resources professionals, owners of small businesses.
Over all “look and feel”: A friendly, eye-catching, colorful, very modern design. When I say “fun” that doesn’t “funny” or jokey — it should look like an enjoyable book to read. There is a LOT of text on this cover, and your biggest challenge is to make the title easy to read and understand. Some thoughts:
- You can make the 96 bigger than the rest of the title (not required)
- You can treat the title all the same, OR you can let “96 Great Interview Questions” be larger and “to Ask Before You HIre” be smaller
- despite all this text, we’d like it to still feel not too crowded
Similar designs: I’ve attached a collection of books I call Upbeat. They are on different subjects, but their tone of contemporary friendliness is right.
NOTE: we do NOT want stock photos of businesspeople, handshakes, briefcases, or business buildings. — unless they’re used in a very fresh way.
Content is attached.
NOTE #1: Please show me your designs as a face-front, flat image. We prefer jpgs that are about 1200 pixels tall. We do not want to see a spine or a back cover.
NOTE #2: Please only send 1 - 3 designs that YOU think work best. Do NOT send many variations on a given design (I can’t look through all of them).
Thanks, Cathleen Ouderkirk
