Descripción del libro
The year is 1789. France is reeling under the impact of a civil war between the classes. When a secret agent from Rome joins forces with a vindictive politician bent on revenge, the stage is set for an explosive outcome that will shake France to its core.
Meanwhile, Queen Marie-Antoinette engages the help of her lady-in-waiting, Viviane de Lussan, in a desperate battle to keep her throne ... and her head.
In the midst of the chaos, Vivane finds her heart torn between a noble who has sacrificed everything for her and a peasant who promises true freedom. This historical romance will grab you by the heart and never let go.
Público al que se apunta
Women from ages 16+. Location would be the United States and Canada. Men and women who are interested in France, the French Revolution and the history of the Bourbons would also read it. Readers of Philippa Gregory would probably find it fascinating.

Diseño de inspiración
I like how it's dramatic with a modern feel. There is energy in it (the flames in the background) and the character's pose indicates some sort of turmoil. The author's name is clearly visible.
I love the historical feel it conveys. The font is perfect for BrideTree. It's elegant but easy to read. The dark coloring sets a somber tone which, again, is perfect for this project. I also like the singular focus.
The realistic features of the woman on the cover. I don't like the rainbow, however. It offers hope in a somber setting and seems to clash IMHO. Her pose suggests mystery which is intriguing.
The portrayal of the individual characters gives a personal connection to them. The font is not ideal.

I would like it to be a more dark cover, with a guillotine featured somewhere on it, possibly flames. There is quite a cast and I'd like headshots to be featured over the palace of Versailles of the main characters so it's consistent with the first book in the series (see attached photo). All characters are Caucasian.
Marie-Antoinette (Queen of France)
Viviane (Queen's lady-in-waiting), brown hair, green eyes
Salome (Prostitute but please make sure no cleavage etc... is showing). Dark hair, blue eyes,
Alexandre: Assassin (black hair, blue eyes)
Philippe (Prince of France) brown hair, brown eyes
Robespierre (greyish wig, yellowish-brown eyes). The font styles should be regal but not stuffy. I'd like modern readers to be able to identify with it as well.
The site doesn't allow me to select mutliple options but this will be on Ingram Spark as well as Create Space. It will be for hardcover as well as soft cover. The book will be 5.5 x 8.5.
Lo que debe evitarse
Avoid anything visually provocative (i.e. exposed cleavage or sensuality).
This was the cover for the first book in the series. It was done by another publishing agency and our company will be republishing it in about 2 years, so feel free to move away from this direction if you are so inclined. The remaining 4 books in the series will follow the pattern of what you design. When the book is re-released, it will also follow the pattern you set to give the series a more unified feel.
