Descripción del libro
Eleven year old Charley and her nine year old sister Aubergine are devastated when their mother fails to return from a trip to the Zohar desert. Charley opens an insurance policy and receives a knock on the door from their agent - Larry the Dromedary. They hop on his hump and fly away to find their mother in a madcap quest that takes them through maze-like markets, a bully boy-king's wedding party and a scorching desert to confront a very angry Sand Queen. When they do find their mother they help her face the greatest foe of all them all - herself.

Desert and Sky - The colours of orange and blue play a lot in this story as much is set in a desert kingdom where there is an electricity between the colours as they meet in the form of earth and sky. Also Larry is a dromedary so that earthy camel like colour might come to play. This is a fun romp but it is full of danger as well so some of that should be hinted at in the colours too.

Necesidades de diseño
Above this is an adventure that needs to appeal to 7 - 12 year olds. I am hoping for a fun, striking cover to launch a series and a brand. I do like hand drawn text feel and a bit of a punk aesthetic. This is a fantasy novel but it was inspired by a real desert adventure. This is for middle grade readers - I think simple and bold works well. I also like a gender neutral feel - the main character is a girl (Charley) and the story is told from a girl's pov in a feminist way but I would say that the book is for boys and girls. I have been drawing along with this book for some time but feel like I need a professional graphic artist to do the cover. I may release a graphic novel at some point . You can check out my Facebook page for some inspiration. Facebook@Larry the Dromedary. If you include the three characters I do like the idea of them drawn in silhouette with the two girls sitting on the dromedary as they fly infront of the moon (kind of like ET)
Lo que debe evitarse
I have included some original artwork of mine as a reference - I want it as an inspiration rather than an element of the design
