Hello designers. We’d like for you to design a 6.125” x 9.25” hardcover book jacket for us. Here’s the information on the book:
Title: Money Machine
Subtitle: The Surprisingly Simple Power of Value Investing
Author Gary Smith
Audience: This is a book for ANY person who wants to learn the basics of “value investing,” which is a fairly safe and conservative approach to investing.
Over all “look and feel”: The title is a bit fun, BUT we do not want a funny or joke cover. We would like the cover to look simple and serious, as a contrast to the title — because people take their money very seriously, and won’t buy and book that looks silly. We’re picturing an all caps, simple sans serif font, slightly condensed, for the title, with a traditional serif for the subtitle. It could be have a bright color in the background as one element of fun in an otherwise solemn treatment.
Possible imagery: You could use a HINT of something about money — some currency as a texture maybe or a SMALL reference to a money-making machine. NO piles of money, and no coins or big charts showing income.
Published books with similar feel: I’m attaching a compilation called Investing-MidLevel that gives you a good idea of what these kinds of books look like.
Some information about the book is attached.
NOTE #1: Please show me your designs as a face-front, flat image. You’re welcome to also include an angled “3D” version if you want, but we want to be able to compare all the designs in a FLAT format. We prefer jpgs that are about 1200 pixels tall. We do not want to see a spine or a back cover.
NOTE #2: Please do not send many subtle variations on a given design (I can’t look through all of them). Pick the verision that YOU think works best.
Thanks, Cathleen Ouderkirk
