Dr. Praise Matemavi is a transplant surgeon at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. She is the first Zimbabwean abdominal transplant surgeon. She is passionate about organ donation and living donation for kidney transplants. She is a wife to Ryan, mother to Shantelle and Noel and bonus mom to Jacob, Trent, and Daniel. Her hope is to encourage every black girl to follow their dream however grand it may seem and to have the courage to persevere until that dream is realized. She loves to read, write, self develop and spending time with her family.

This book is about stories and interviews of black female surgeons from around the world. 25 countries, all surgical disciplines from all backgrounds. They talk about their challenges and lessons learnt and what they want to teach the next generation of black female surgeons. A special tribute is to Dr. Sherilyn Gordon-Burroughs a renown abdominal transplant surgeon who died tragically in 2017. Proceeds from the book are going towards a scholarship to support training of black female surgeons in Africa and a scholarship honoring Dr. Gordon-Burroughs.
