A paperback book cover, 6 x 9”
Title: Recipe for Success
Subtitle: An Insider’s Guide to Bringing Your Natural Food to Market
Author: Abigail Steinberg
Banner or Burst: A Shelf-Help Guide
Audience: People who create and package their own natural, organic, or homemade food and who are trying to get it onto supermarket shelves. Ideally of course, Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s or another large natural-foods store
Over all “look and feel": We’d like it to feel like the label on the front of a organic- or natural-food package of some kind. Should feel happy, natural, homemade/handmade. We can’t use a jar (or at least not a whole jar) because two direct competitors do that. The label should have the title as the product name and fill much of the cover. Maybe a big rectangle with rounded corners. Or an oval or circle. We’d like it to look like it’s on some kind of recycled paper or other interesting texture with a commercialized homey/hand-wrought font. Think Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s or other brands with lots of green and gold and a leaf, grass, tree, branches here or there.
Possible imagery: The label itself is pretty much the image, but you’re welcome to add in some natural food imagery.
Published books with similar feel: I’m attaching a pdf that shows the two main competitive books, which are not sophisticated-looking enough — i.e. they don’t have much detail. We’d like ours to look like an actual label. I’ve also included a lot of sample labels.
