Business Capability : How to assess the competency of your technology-enabled business
Biografía del autor
I have worked in UK, US, Finland, Germany, Spain, Hungary and New Zealand in technology focussed businesses across a range of market sectors as the Chief Financial Officer for 20 years. The companies I've worked in have ranged from start-ups to more mature businesses in situations where the business needed some material change to increase its value, and I've been involved in the acquisition, financing and analysis of other businesses - the common theme being I had a wide-ranging role which allowed me to see for myself the challenges, how to go about dealing with those challenges and the things to look for when assessing a business.
Descripción del libro
Have you ever discovered that the company you've acquired, thinking about acquiring or just joined, is not what had been described? Are you now wondering how am I going to get to the bottom of what's really keeping this business going so that I can implement my business strategy?
This handbook is designed to help the reader understand what a business is currently capable of, what it can’t do and where the problem areas may be hiding so that a reader is in a position of knowledge and power to make changes as they see fit.

I like the clean lines, I like the vibrant colours and I like the simplicity
I like the simplicity on this one - the colour is a bit boring but the title is very clear
I like the clean lines, colour and vibrancy

There are 2 books that inspire me to write what could be considered rather a dry subject into something I enjoyed writing. The style of these books was fun and interesting, and they sold millions. The books are Business Model Generation and Customer Value Proposition. - i loaded the cover of one below but wasn’t able to load the other. The titles are boring but the covers are engaging and fun to look at. The style of the content is similar and there’s a good balance going on. This is what I aiming for. My book has serious content and I start each chapter with a photo or illustration of children in a lemonade stand relevant to the chapter I am writing. For example, the chapter on “People” will have one character interviewing another with 2 questions on his list - “Can you count to 100?” And “What corporate finance experience do you have?”. The children age up to about 10 years old.
Ideally I’d like some sort of illustration of a lemonade stand with the various aspects covered - the product (lemonade), building the stand, interviewing the staff etc. The format of the book will be landscape and the trim size is going to be 21.488cm wide by 17.501cm tall.
