· Please include the following copy in the cover design:
o Title: Known Afterlife
§ The Provider Trilogy, Volume I
o Author: Trey Copeland
o Present and place copy (font style and size, color, all caps, caps
and lower case, placement, etc.) according to what you deem goes best
with the overall design.
· Design Parameters- features I’d like to see included in the
design. Again, in the end, I leave it to your artistic interpretation
as to how you incorporate these features into the design.
o A stylized depiction of dual trees that symbolize the extremes of
good and evil.
§ A bonus if the image can resemble a planet but no longer required
· Not looking for a graphic of planet.
· One hemisphere generates/gravitates towards “good” while the
other generates/gravitates towards “evil”.
§ A bonus if the image resembles yin and yang but if so, I want it
subtle, not overt.
o Symbols or graphics conveying computer/telecommunications technology
(this can be incorporated into the dual tree design, part of
background or both).
§ “1” and “0” code (a la the Matrix)
o Earth tones: greens, browns, oranges, etc.
· Themes of Trilogy to consider/convey
o The PROVIDER TRILOGY is an equal blend of science fiction and
fantasy. Please visit listing on Amazon.com and read
description/reviews for more details.
o The Tree/Provider world is the fantasy setting. Unbeknownst to the
reader until the end, the Tree world is a virtual world/network. The
mission/purpose of the virtual world/network is to explore the extreme
limits of good and evil and share that “boon” with the people of
Antium. To accomplish this goal, Muzar (our hero) merges mind and soul
with Antium’s first sentient computer. Known Afterlife depicts life
in the extreme “good” hemisphere of the network hours before (days
in the virtual world) the ten-year mission of the virtual network is
complete. Up to the arrival of these world changing events, humans
(virtual fractals/copies of real humans living on Antium) live a
utopian existence where they have evolved to live peacefully in nature
via their ability to shift the Source (the energy of their tree planet
and God, the two being interchanged much in the way Christianity does
the “Holy Trinity”). How one shifts the Source is dictated by
race: Guardian, Shifter, Mystic or Healer. Life experiences are
recorded for all to learn, stored within the Deeds (think akashic
records). As a result, reincarnation is at the foundation of their
o Antium is the science fiction setting. A terrestrial planet similar
to earth, technology is about 25-40 years ahead of Earth. A ruthless
theocracy has governed the human population for the past 2,000 years,
enforcing their monotheistic beliefs that involve a draconian caste
system (entitled/ordained racism/bigotry is a main theme throughout
the trilogy.) Think “Spanish Inquisition” era that managed to take
root and thrive for 2,000 years. The main characters on Antium (and
Muzar’s allies and friends) invented (using the data gleamed from
the virtual network) a new telecommunications network (the Auranet)
that, among other things, enables users to dramatically accelerate
their ability to learn. One user at a time, they are wiping out
ignorance. With the entire world connected to the Auranet, their plan
is to release Muzar’s boon to the world, believing his experience in
the virtual network for the past ten years will usher in a
transcendent age free of religious persecution.
o The Trilogy explores the gray area found between science and
mysticism, speculating on the relationship between spiritual evolution
and the Singularity—the inevitable moment, in a very near future,
when artificial intelligence will have progressed to the point of a
· Additional notes/requests
o With Known Afterlife being the first volume in a trilogy, the
ability to replicate the design for visual continuity will have a
strong influence on choosing a winner.
· Volume II: Known Resurrection
o Darker, more dystopian
· Volume III: Known Transcendence
o Dystopian theme continues with positive ending
o Primary marketing efforts will focus on eBook sales, so design with
digital in mind first
§ Please present designs as they would be seen/viewed on Amazon.
o I will want a final product that can be used for future print
versions but not the priority
