It was supposed to be a night to get drunk, a night to get stoned, a night to get laid.
But at an after-hours party in a house on the rich side of town, an old acquaintance has walked out of the darkness, dragging the past with him. The meeting is no chance affair, and it can only mean that someone is gunning for Nicki Valentine, someone who's used to getting what he wants and who has the means to take it, whatever the cost.
Down-and-out, down-and-dirty, Nicki's going to have to figure out the game before she's the one who's played. She's got brains and fight and unhealed rage on her side. She's got her half-brother, Quinn Halliday, at her back. And she's got a wickedly sharp straight razor in her hand.
As Nicki circles closer to the truth, she discovers the deck is stacked against her and she may only be left with only one option: Cut and run.
Público al que se apunta
I imagine men and women of ages 18 to 50 who enjoy film noir, neo-noir, thrillers, hardboiled mysteries, stories with deep characterization and books by Joe R. Lansdale, Stephen King, Chester Himes, or Sara Paretsky would find something to enjoy here.

In the image a young woman leans against a car by a lakefront at dusk. The car is a blue Chevy Nova, circa 1970. It sits in profile, rear end frame-left, front end frame-right. The woman is wearing a black leather jacket, t-shirt, jeans, and heavy work boots. Her torso and legs are turned toward us, her arms spread casually open as she rests her elbows across on the roof. Her left is hand open and dangling, her right loosely holds an open straight razor. Her head is turned in profile and crooked slightly downward to face the razor. Her shoulder-length black hair falls across most of her face, but reveals her mouth, the corner of which is turned up in a sly, perhaps cruel smile. Her legs are crossed, one leg over the other. Her presentation is a languid, mocking "Jesus Christ pose." The title could be floating somewhere mysterious in the background, reminiscent of a neon logo for a brand of beer.
Lo que debe evitarse
I'd like to see an original piece with no stock imagery.
