POV - looking up at 15 year old Kip, nighttime sky background (part clear with stars, and part clouded with a big storm coming). Kip stands on the roof top proud, cocky, one arm poised in victory, the other holding aloft the prize. He has a smirk, looking ready to crow – think Disney’s Peter Pan in his posture (back arched, legs straight). His gaze is at the viewer/reader. His clothes are being blown by the wind, a facescarf (to cover nose and mouth) hangs loose, one end secured to the back of his neck with a loop around his neck, blowing freely in the wind.
A shadowy figure or two are in the background, stalking him in the night; other rooftops can be seen that rise higher, but mostly the background is the night sky.
IN HIS HAND: a small crystal vial of liquid, looks magical (glows amethyst).
CHARACTER: Kip is Caucasian, slight tan, dark hair, lanky. Hair is tousled and thick (no head-covering). He is a thief and poor, but he is wearing stolen finery.
SETTING: City/clothes have a middle-eastern feel.
I’m hoping for something striking, an image to grab attention, make one smile, invite thoughts of mystery and adventure. The overall tone is serious, there is real danger, but in the face of it all, Kip will scoff and talk his way through, and when he can’t talk, he’ll run.
TITLE DESIGN: Unsure of design, want it a bit ornate, sense of danger/adventure — but must be readable.

NOTE: I would like the end result to be delivered in a layered photoshop file. Total page count of book is not finalized, but will be approx 200-250 pages and print will be 6x9 inches. So leave spine design as flexible for adjustment. Back cover copy is not yet finalized, leave room for it to be added.
