Unmasked Book Cover direction from the author: (visual sample attached)
The idea is to have it look like a drawing and the peeling effect in the title is to mimic the unmasking.
A cleaned up version with what looks like natural drawing paper as the background I’m ok with, as long as the concept remains true.
I want the cover to dictate and control the reader's expectations, and truly mimic the energy of what will follow after flipping the first page.
It is really hard to trust someone with that. It is like expecting a stranger to make love to my woman, touch her and know her weak spots the way I do.
Things to fix:
Raw art shows all the hand drawn extras, including positioning lines at author name, crooked line at left side of page, smudges in one eye of the mask and penciled letters showing between/underneath the sticky-note title. Remove all or most of that.
Decide if we want the grey background or to convert it to white, textured as in drawing paper. The grey is dingy whne the thumbnail sits next to other book covers.
There is not enough bleed (extra background space) to crop it for the cover, spine, back-cover.
