Lanuuk is a fresh, new 'contemporary full coverage swimwear' brand. The products are long sleeved swim dresses/tops and swim leggings (imagine an elegant looking longer rashguard with swim tights). We are aiming to be a luxury brand that exudes sophistication but retains a fresh personality.
We are targeting the UK and Philippines/Asian market but believe that maybe in the future we can target the USA and Middle East. The products are manufactured in the Philippines and we intend for this to be sold primarily via e-commerce (our own website), with only exploring pop-ups or bazaars for the sake of marketing. In terms of the target market’s age, we want the brand to be timeless and appeal to a wide range of women.
The name of our brand is 'Lanuuk'. We want our name and brand to be something that will appeal to various markets. Our mission is to create luxury full coverage swimwear that transcends cultures, generations and body types, to prevent women from sun damage, and to challenge the mindset of what constitutes attractive swimwear.
1. Women covering for religious purposes. However, we want to achieve this without necessarily labelling ourselves as ‘modest’
2. Women wanting to protect their skin form the sun. Perception goal: a brand that allows a woman to not have to compromise on fashion and femininity whilst wearing full sun protection swimwear.
3. Women averse to baring too much skin. Perception goal: a brand that allows body conscious women to feel comfortable going out in the water or beach with a second ‘security blanket’ layer of skin. We want to be inclusive for every woman and give them an option to feel confident and attractive, regardless of how much skin is on display.
Icon with logo: we are playing around with the idea of using the ‘oyster and pearl’ in an abstract form along with the brand name (lanuuk), due mainly to their various positive symbolisms. Such as it’s allusion to modesty, beauty, and strength. And ‘the world is your oyster’ in our context implies that a woman can do anything, be anything, wear anything, and exude confidence whilst doing so. Also, the oyster and pearl is associated with the beach or the sea, so may suit our swimwear brand. However, we are also open to other ideas that could complement our swimwear.
