The description of our business above is the “Second Story” aspect of the name. While it does relate to the physical attribute of certain homes, this really means that we provide a different narrative or viewpoint than other real estate firms. Other meanings we've played around with, but don’t necessarily use, are that our clients can “start their next chapter” of their life, “take the next step”, “get a better outlook”.
Second Story is also meant as a descriptor for the client’s experience with us. It is void of any broker’s name, initials, or any description of our actrual brokers, on purpose.
Edit: After seeing and thinking over some of the initial designs, we will want to lean away from most designs features a rooftop or house. Our agency is a little more modern and different from most traditional ones, we'd like to stay away from the rooftop or house motif as well since it's prevalent in the industry.
If there is any guidance I can give on a pictorial mark, I think we'd be more interested in something describing the client being better off after working with us or having a good experience. Maybe something with a staircase, rising to the top, getting a better outlook.
Something more rounded would be ideal vs straight edges.
A design with no pictorial mark is also fine as we'd welcome a design with only font or a design that plays with the words themselves.
I also think we will be leaning away from a logo that uses our initials "SS" or an S in a pictorial design.
