Update: 11/01/2018 Hello, finalists and welcome to the final phase. We have established some direction but are NOT locked into any logo direction at this point. This is still open to any new designs and design ideas you may have. I'm going to add new files to the reference/file section of the brief to outline our current design directions and front runners. I will also review all designs with increased scrutiny within the ratings. You are all finalists NOT because of any particular design, but because I saw promise or value in your attempts so far or you displayed quick and concise communication. Update: We need to get away from the flame. It can't be the focal point. It can be subtle but not the main icon. More focus on name "Hall" variants for icons. We are expanding into other service-based markets. Our company started in 1959 as a small oil delivery business created by my grandparents. We added propane to our business in 1988. Growing from a small family owned business to a mid-sized corp over the last 30 years. We service the piedmont area of NC and the south west VA. Our company changed over the years, starting with oil, then propane and now HVAC service. The name changed from Hall Oil to Hall Oil & Propane. We need flexibility within our marketing and logo as we diversify into other industries. The working idea is to move from Hall Oil & Propane, Inc. to a simpler approach that doesn’t restrict our diversification. That means that we go to only the name Hall, which is also the owners and 100% of shareholders surnames. The plan it to move into other service sectors in the future, like we did with HVAC service. Our colors have always been red, white, black and blue. Name recognition for Hall is strong in our area and industry. Our target customers are somewhat complicated as our propane side is a utility but we are moving to more service oriented sectors.

You are all finalists NOT because of any particular design, but because I saw promise or value in your attempts so far or you displayed quick and concise communication. -Please look at the updated reference files for direction on the icon, name and symbol. Need bold, mascueline text on name "HALL". Half the outer of the "blades" should be blue (showing cold but not snowflake). ex. Cold wind. The other side of outer symbol should be red (showing heat or flame). Do not alternate the colors. The inside should have an "H" worked in somehow inside a shape. -One thing that is true of all our business is that a truck must show up at the customers property. -We added HVAC(heating and cooling service) and Natural Gas piping/appliance service this year. We plan to add other services in the coming years Ex. Plumbing, indoor air quality control, irrigation systems (just examples of what new service COULD be, none of these are reality now.) The reason I say this is to reiterate that the logo concept needs to allow us into new markets without losing sight of our current business. Customers don't call a "propane or fuel" company for HVAC service. We've thought of adding new services as text near our core logo, listed underneath or create icons for each new service and incircle our logo. That way we can market to all as bundled services and cross market new service to our current customer base w/o losing current name recognition. Our core problem is that our current logo and name locks us into our core business, propane/fuel. As we expand into other markets that becomes an issue, both for identifying what we provide and marketing new services. www.hallpropane.com is our site. We will most likely use the logo on all our different vehicles and marking, then use bullet points under the logo/name to identify our services.
