The first logo provided, is merely a reference to what has been used in the past. Because there is WAY too much going on, I wanted to offer this as a point of reference for what is over the top. We had been working towards updating our company logo for a few years, and only now has the opportunity become a situation that demands immediate attention.
This is a family company that has been incorporated since 1998, and family owned. My father founded it, after having worked in the restaurant/hospitality industry throughout his life. My mother handled all of the invoicing, accounts payable, and general bookkeeping needs. Unfortunately they passed away, 5 weeks apart from each other, a few months ago from cancer. I am their son, and have taken on the task to put my IT company to rest, and run the family business. I have been raised in this industry, and while I am not nearly as sophisticated and finely tuned as my father, I know and understand this business quite extensively; I'm working to get where he was. ;) I have begun to develop a strong portfolio of new clients, in addition to the ones we had upon his death. My father was very much, of "the old school" business philosophy - in that, his handshake was his word. This has quickly become a dying breed in any industry, that I hope to reinvigorate. He was respected throughout the state as the only broker to help in certain deals, and I am proud to take that role in his absence.
My goal is to create an unmistakable brand recognition, with a focus on minimalism, with attention to low reproduction cost for future printing and easy integration. The current logo is way too busy, and has really nothing to do with our products and/or services. Plus, with as many colors and gradients included, would remain very expensive to reproduce.
I have a strong background in hospitality. I worked as a chef for 7 years, I am a certified somellier ( Court of Masters ), I have worked in both the importing & distribution of spirits, have taught several wine education programs, been a territory Dir. of Op. for a major wine store franchise, and built a reputation as "the young guy that knows his stuff". I would hope to have our brand identity reflect a sense of sophistication and minimalism, while providing a uniquely modern emphasis that lends itself to our niche industry.
While I don't often work much with it any longer, I do have a strong IT background, and a company that provides tech management and consulting to small and medium businesses. The reason I mention this is because I have started incorporating many of the tools I used in that business, to reduce the turn around times for clients to provide and receive information, thus, getting their licenses at a much faster rate. I have rethought an industry saturated with "old school" to integrate modern technologies, while keeping the focus on how important a hand-written letter and a hand shake has been in forging our path to where we are now. I am providing a fusion of the classic fundamentals of business, with the sophistication and tenacity expected from the leading up and coming entrepreneurs of today.
