To do this procedure, the doctor works under x-ray since he/she does not have direct vision of the blood stream. Once the guidewire is in the patient, the x-ray system is focused on the region of the patient where the doctor is working.
The problem is at the beginning of the procedure when the doctor needs to create a needle prick in the groin area to access the circulatory system.
To do this introductory procedure, the doctor needs to use x-ray guidance. So his/her hands are directly under the x-ray.
For the patient, 20 minutes of x-ray exposure is not detrimental (especially compared to the alternative of an open surgery or no treatment). But for the doctor, having his/her hands exposed day-after-day to x-ray is very bad. There are reported cases of doctors contracting cancer from extended exposure to x-rays.
So we want to help the doctors keep their hands away from the x-ray field.
We have deviced a new needle holder system that allows the clinician to conduct the needle introduction process without putting his/her hands under the x-ray.
We want a logo that clearly communicates to the doctor that his/her hands will not be exposed to dangerous x-rays through using our product.
The logo will be used on product packaging and on a website in the future.
