We are building a "How it Works" page for the website. On the page, we will describe the 4 steps that the user needs to take to sell their device. Along with each step, we will provide a slightly more detailed description of what the user must do at each step. The goal is to convey that the process is both easy and secure. We are very inspired by the How it Works Page on Mint.com, and hope to design a page that is similar.
Following is the content that we will have on the page:
Headline text: Sell Safely in Just 4 Steps
1. Get Offers
Tell us the make and model of your phone and the condition that it is in. uSell searches its network of trusted, professional buyers and instantly returns offers for your device.
2. Choose a Buyer
You select the buyer that you would like to transact with. You can make your selection based on the price offered as well reviews from other uSell users that have recently transacted.
3. Ship for Free
Fill out our simple form. Our buyers need your information to send you your free shipping kit and to process your payment. Your information is kept secure and is never shared.
4. Get Paid
As soon as your device arrives at the buyer’s facility, the buyer inspects it and confirms that it is consistent with your assessment. As long as everything checks out, your payment will be processed quickly in the method that you chose. uSell monitors every step of your transaction to ensure that you are 100% satisfied.
We would like to build a large icon/illustration for each of the four steps listed above. We do not want "cartoonish" looking icons. We want them to look sophisticated and to instill the concepts of simplicity and security.
There are two websites that we thing do a good job with their How it Works illustrations/icons. The first isMint.com. Take a look at their How it Works page here: https://www.mint.com/how-it-works/.
The second website belongs to a company called Totem that is listed as one of the buyers on the uSell website. You can see their How it Works page here: http://www.hellototem.com/how-it-works
Please keep in mind that Totem's business is slightly different than ours. While Totem actually purchases devices themselves, we are a price comparison site for websites like Totem. Therefore, our steps are slightly different.
We like the simplicity of the Totem icons and the sophistication of the Mint illustrations. Both companies have sharp, realistic looking images that accompany each step. This is what we are looking for, but would like unique images for our unique business.
Lastly, it is important to note that these images will likely be scaled down and placed on other parts of the website. The icons should be about the size as those on the Totem website.
